Bridge Your $CLAP on Cardano to $ERA on Polygon — Everything You Need to Know
As we continue to expand our ecosystem, we are excited to announce the bridging of $CLAP tokens on the Cardano blockchain to $ERA tokens on the Polygon network, a key part of our strategic plan to integrate with the Ethereum ecosystem. This transition opens up a plethora of opportunities, enabling you to leverage the robust infrastructure, diverse DeFi applications, and the vibrant community within the Ethereum ecosystem. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to make this transition smoothly and efficiently using Chainport.
What is Token Bridging?
Token bridging is the process of transferring tokens from one blockchain to another. This is done through a bridge protocol that locks the tokens on the original chain and send equivalent tokens on the destination chain.
In our case, you’ll send your $CLAP tokens on Cardano to get wrapped $ERA tokens on Polygon that you will be able to use in our token dApp.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have the following:
- $CLAP Tokens: Ensure you have your $CLAP tokens in your Nami Cardano wallet.
- Polygon Wallet: Ensure you have an EVM wallet that supports $ERA tokens on Polygon (full list here)
- Chainport Access: Access to the Chainport platform to facilitate the bridging process.
- ADA for Transaction Fees: Please be sure to have 5 ADA in your wallet for the bridging. Don’t worry, less than 2 ADA will be needed for the transaction fees.
Step-by-Step Guide
Here is the link to the bridging process on Chainport.
Step 1: Connect Your Wallet
First, connect your Nami Cardano wallet to Chainport. Ensure that your wallet is properly configured and contains the $CLAP tokens you wish to bridge.
Step 2: Select Tokens and Destination Network
On Chainport, select $CLAP as the token you want to bridge. Choose Polygon as the destination network where you want to receive $ERA tokens.
Step 3: Verify and Approve the Transaction
Verify the transaction details, including the amount of $CLAP you want to bridge and the destination address on the Polygon network.
Chainport charges a bridging fee of 0.3% of the bridged token amount. Erable° will cover this fee after the bridging process is completed.
Approve the transaction in your Cardano wallet.
Step 4: Wait for Confirmation
The bridging process takes a few minutes, as it involves locking your $CLAP tokens on the Cardano network and sending equivalent wrapped $ERA tokens on Polygon.
Step 5: Receive $ERA Tokens
Once the transaction is confirmed, you will receive $ERA tokens in your Polygon wallet. Check your wallet balance to ensure the tokens have been received.
If $ERA tokens don’t appear directly in your wallet, you can import the contract to see it. The process may vary depending on the wallet you are using. The contract address will be added to the blog post once we are live.
Step 5: Import $ERA in your Wallet to see your token
Most of the wallets don’t recognize directly new tokens. If that’s the case, you will need to import the $ERA token into your wallet so you can see it on the interface. Rest assured, the tokens are there, just the interface doesn’t show them automatically.
On Metamask, you can click on “Import Token” => “Custom Token”
The address of the $ERA contract you need to copy/paste is the following: 0xA8bF0B92BE0338794d2e3b180b9643A1f0eB2914
Tips for a Smooth Bridging Experience
- Double-Check Addresses: Always double-check the wallet addresses before confirming transactions to avoid any loss of tokens.
- Monitor Gas Fees: Be aware of the gas fees on both networks and ensure you have enough balance to cover them.
- Stay Updated: Keep an eye on announcements from the $CLAP and $ERA communities for any updates or changes in the bridging process.
Conclusion
Bridging your $CLAP tokens on Cardano to $ERA on Polygon can open up a world of new opportunities. By following this guide, you can navigate the bridging process with confidence and start enjoying the benefits of the Polygon network. Remember, the 0.3% bridging fee will be covered by erable° after the process, so keep your transaction records handy.
